For too long, the high cost of quality child care has been an expensive burden on North Carolina families. Working parents should not be forced to choose between a career and their family, all while struggling to make ends meet.
That’s why I was so proud to help pass legislation like the American Rescue Plan, which delivered critical investments in direct relief for working families, expanding access to safe and reliable childcare, increasing early education opportunities, and strengthening the care sector by creating good-paying jobs and raising wages.
Legislation like this was critical to helping families and caregivers get back on their feet as our country recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic. And that work does not end here.
Before Congress heads back into session, I’ll be spending time here in the district speaking with folks to highlight the impact of investing in support for children and families, and the work still ahead.
I will always put North Carolina families first to ensure we continue making long overdue investments in our people for generations to come. When working families succeed, our communities are better off for it.
Will you join me in the work ahead to further expand access to affordable childcare and support families everywhere?
Thanks for taking action on this important issue.
