Dear John,
Most of the Republican candidates for president will be together on the debate stage tomorrow, shouting over each other like schoolchildren in an attempt to differentiate themselves and stand out from the pack.
But you and I know that when it comes to abortion, their positions are all the same in their extremism and cruelty. Based on that alone, none of them deserve to serve in our country's highest office.
We're already laying the groundwork to beat the GOP nominee—whoever it is—and hold the line on reproductive freedom. But we count on members like you to provide the critical resources needed to rapidly deploy organizers, field operatives, and targeted advertising where it matters most.
Tomorrow's debate will hand a megaphone to these MAGA extremists. Will you rush a gift to NARAL Pro-Choice America right now to help us prepare to fight back? Together, we'll defeat anti-abortion candidates and defend reproductive freedom. |
Here's a quick look at some of the candidates' records on abortion: |
| As Florida governor, Ron DeSantis signed an extreme ban on abortion at six weeks of pregnancy, which is before many people even know they are pregnant. He has indicated that as president, he would support national, state, and local abortion bans. |
| Former VP Mike Pence has long supported a nationwide abortion ban and called for abortion care to be "illegal." He frequently amplifies disinformation around medication abortion. |
| Nikki Haley attempts to present herself as a "moderate" consensus-builder on abortion, but as South Carolina governor she signed several bills to restrict reproductive freedom—including an extreme abortion ban that allowed for jailing providers. |
| Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) vowed to sign "the most conservative legislation" on abortion as president, including a national ban. |
| Former President Donald Trump stacked the federal judiciary with conservative ideologues and built the anti-abortion supermajority on the Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade. |
We're going to hear a lot of lies and disinformation about abortion on the debate stage tomorrow. The most important thing to remember is that 8 in 10 Americans support the legal right to abortion, leaving each of these candidates far out of step with the majority of voters.
We know that even four years of an awful president comes with devastating, long-term consequences: Donald Trump delivered on a campaign promise and nominated Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, solidifying the anti-abortion supermajority on the Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade.
The fight to defend reproductive freedom in the next election has already begun. Please pitch in now, before these extremist candidates take the debate stage tomorrow. Thank you for your support. |
