Last week, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, the most significant piece of climate change legislation in American history. 

The catastrophic wildfires in Maui serve as an urgent reminder of the climate crisis — and reinforce the importance of investments like the IRA. Please consider donating to support recovery and relief efforts across the island.

Here in the Lowcountry, we know better than most that the threat posed by climate change is real — just look at last month's dangerous heat wave. It's on us to take decisive action to protect our flourishing coastal communities from environmental disasters.

For South Carolina, government inaction is no longer an option. We owe it to our children and grandchildren to embrace proactive climate policy, keeping our planet healthy and habitable for generations to come.

My opponent, Nancy Mace, wants you to believe that Donald Trump's four criminal indictments and 91 felony counts — including the latest charges in Georgia — are all politically motivated.

We know that's not true — and even Fox News isn't buying it. Check out the congresswoman's awkward interview on the network last week.

In recent months, we've grown accustomed to Nancy Mace shrugging off Donald Trump's wrongdoings and downplaying his attacks on American democracy.

Time and again, Nancy Mace has shown that she's willing to undermine faith in our justice system in order to win Trump's approval.

But the congresswoman's refusal to condemn the former president's actions in Georgia is particularly troubling.

If Nancy Mace won't support the people's right to vote in Georgia, she can't be trusted to protect her constituents' basic freedoms back home in South Carolina.

The Lowcountry deserves a representative who will stand up for law and order, defend our justice system, and demand accountability for all Americans — even powerful politicians.

There's so much work to do, and we're only just getting started.
