Dear John, The first Republican presidential debate is coming up on Wednesday.
And though it might be painful to sit through hours of Republican presidential wannabes shouting over each other like schoolchildren, our team is dedicated to watching every minute of the debate.
Why? Well, it's our view that if we want to beat anti-abortion MAGA extremists like Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, Mike Pence, Chris Christie, and even Donald Trump himself, we have to be ready for anything. We can't afford to look away, take our eye off the ball, or ignore the fact that these politicians are already at work attacking our fundamental freedoms. |

The Republican candidates for president are competing to see who would enact the most extreme policies, including a national ban on abortion that would block access even in blue states.
And we know that even four years of an awful president comes with devastating, long-term consequences: Donald Trump delivered on a campaign promise and nominated Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, solidifying the anti-abortion supermajority on the Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade.
The stakes are too high to tune this out. We will call out the extremist lies and disinformation about abortion that these candidates present on the debate stage. We will be vigilant until the very last vote is counted in November next year. That's our duty as leaders in the reproductive freedom movement and the reason we do this work.
