With the many intersecting crises occurring in our country, I’m answering the call to serve. I will bring my frontline experience to Congress to address the source of preventable suffering and violence harming our communities, and to uplift all who seek a better life. I was inspired by Dr. Andrews’ run for Congress last cycle and am proud of the work she is doing to give kids a voice in Washington, D.C. My life has been about service, not politics.
I decided to run for Congress after realizing I could have a greater impact on my community by repairing systemic issues — not in the OR, but through public policy. As a political appointee in Dallas, and as a policy advisor in Washington, D.C., I learned firsthand that real change is possible when we have leaders bold enough to take courageous action — and as a Veteran, trauma surgeon, and gun safety advocate, that’s exactly what I’ll do in Congress.
