John,

 I voted against the proposed state budget because it doesn’t do enough to improve our schools, our healthcare, and our future. The Governor vetoed that budget for similar reasons. 

 Over a month later, we still haven’t had a key vote that will allow real budget negotiations to begin.

It’s time to end the waiting game. 

North Carolinians deserve a budget that reflects broad input from all the parties involved - from the Governor and both parties in the legislature. 

This budget debacle shows why we need a change of leadership in the General Assembly. The Lt. Governor, as presiding officer of the Senate, plays a key role in preventing these stalling tactics. 

As your next Lt. Governor, I will fight for a budget that reflects the values of every North Carolinian.
