John —

Today marks one year since the Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law. My Democratic colleagues and I were proud to pass this landmark legislation and deliver real progress for seniors and working families.

The Inflation Reduction Act is a huge step forward in our fight to lower prescription drug prices. Far too many Americans – especially seniors – struggle to afford critical medications. That’s why we fought to:

Allow Medicare to negotiate the prices of the ten costliest prescription drugs
Cap the out-of-pocket cost of insulin at $35 per month for seniors on Medicare
Cap out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 for seniors on Medicare
Expand Medicare Part D’s subsidies for low-income seniors
Penalize drug manufacturers if they raise their drug prices faster than the rate of inflation

Because of the Inflation Reduction Act, we are already making prescription drugs affordable and taking action to prevent manufacturers from hiking prices.

It’s clear we’re making a difference in people’s lives. But we’ve still got a lot of work ahead of us – and I promise that I won’t stop fighting to lower costs for folks across the South Sound.

Thanks for everything,

Marilyn
