Doorways Joins the Movement


As a pet-friendly domestic violence shelter, has signed onto the 25 by 2025 campaign to help more domestic violence shelters in the U.S. become pet friendly. 25 by 2025 reports that up to 70% of domestic violence survivors have pets, and nearly half delay or avoid leaving abusers because they don’t want to leave their pets behind.

NLIHC Releases Out of Reach 2023: The High Cost of Housing


According to the 2023 Out of Reach report, even with Virginia's new $12 minimum wage, housing in Arlington remains out of reach for many. To afford a modest one-bedroom apartment, workers need to earn $31.06 per hour, nearly $10 above the state average, and nearly $20 over minimum wage. Workers for whom housing is out of reach include elementary school teachers, maintenance and repair workers, security guards, nursing assistants, and many more.
