I revealed a plot to undermine our elections two years ago. Now, it's part of the indictment.

Friend,

Last night, a grand jury indicted former President Donald Trump in Georgia. A section of the indictment is directly related to the records I uncovered through Missouri's Sunshine Law two years ago as part of a corruption investigation into Missouri government.

The indictment includes a series of actions taken by the President and others to further an illegal effort to overturn the election.

According to the indictment, President Trump already had a plan in place to undermine the election in the event that he lost.

He wasn't the only one.

Through my Sunshine Law request from early 2021, I revealed that the Republican Attorneys General Association hosted a “War Games” meeting in September 2020 to hatch plans for what they would do if President Trump lost the election.

The Republican Attorneys General Association brought taxpayer paid staff from all over the country to Georgia for this meeting. Missouri's Solicitor General - one of the highest ranking officials in the Attorney General's Office at the time - was a participant.

My report on this meeting was entered into the Congressional record earlier this year during questioning of Missouri’s former Solicitor General, and the schemes that came out of that meeting are part of the indictment issued last night, including the efforts to file legal briefs to undermine the public's trust in the election results.

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr was the head of the Republican Attorneys General Association. Now Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt was the vice chair.

Transparency in government is fundamental to our democratic republic, to integrity in our public institutions, to making sure that the promise of America is one that we keep intact for generations to come. There will always be self-serving liars who will use the system to keep us divided so they can maintain power, and it's our job to see them for who they are, regardless of whatever party they want to pin to the end of their names.

What we're building in this country is too important to give up to losers like this, and it's why I will always fight for your right to see what our government is doing. It's exactly why so many of our politicians - including our current Attorney General - are fighting so hard to gut Missouri's Sunshine Law. They don't want us to see what they're doing with out money, in our name, on our time.

When we win this election for Attorney General, we will return transparency, accountability, and integrity to Missouri. I'll sue every crook and corrupt official that stands in our way because you deserve a government that truly belongs to you.

We need to build up public service in America again. And with your help, we'll get it done.
