Safeguarding Individual Liberties VICTORY | WI High School Walks Back Segregated “Back-To-School Events” After Backlash Last week, WILL condemned Appleton East High School’s racially segregated back-to-school events. Two back-to-school nights will be held in August, with one night being designated originally for only “Freshmen Students of Color” and their families. Now, Appleton East High School is welcoming all students to the back-to-school event. 🗯 WILL Deputy Counsel, Dan Lennington, stated, “We welcome the response from the school district but would encourage them to do even more to be inclusive to every student in the school district. We should be teaching children the foundational principles of equality enshrined in our Constitution. The district and its employees should emphatically reject all forms of race discrimination and explain why equality is always better than bigotry. By doing so, parents, students, and educators can build a true sense of community, not division.” 📰 Learn more about this act of race discrimination in Wisconsin Public Radio, and tune in to Dan on The Vicki McKenna Show or Cory on The WI Morning News podcast. Learn More NEW | WILL Releases Healthcare Agenda to Policymakers WILL published its Healthcare Agenda, A Healthier Future: Policy Ideas for Improving Healthcare in Wisconsin. The report focuses on policies to overcome 15 issues people face in our state’s current healthcare system, centering on three main categories: Freedom to Practice, Rising Healthcare Costs, and Lack of Access. Since there is not a free market in healthcare, our agenda proposes multiple policy ideas that can be implemented to address these concerns. 🏥 🗯 WILL Policy Associate, Miranda Spindt, stated, “Promoting market-based solutions will increase healthcare access and quality across Wisconsin. It’s imperative that we take legislative action, and our report provides lawmakers with the roadmap to do so. Ultimately, these market-based solutions will result in better healthcare for all Wisconsinites.” 📰 Read more about these free market solutions in The Center Square, or listen to Miranda's interview on The Vicki McKenna Show.
