GOP senator Martha McSally has swung far to the right to prove her loyalty to Trump.
She launched a campaign ad attacking Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff for holding the president accountable and her opponent Mark Kelly for agreeing with the majority of Americans that the president abused his power and should be removed from office.
At a rally with Trump earlier this week, she (falsely) attacked Mark Kelly as a socialist, saying “Mark Kelly is flying on Bernie Sanders’ wing, and I’m flying on your wing, President Trump.”
At the same rally, Trump gave his vocal support for McSally, crediting her for helping him squash the impeachment charges. She has the support of the entire Trump fundraising machine.
Arizona voters are taking notice -- before her impeachment vote, McSally was polling at 42%, but with her votes acquitting Trump, she’s dropped to 39%. Mark Kelly has risen to 46%, beating McSally by 7 points.
If Martha McSally wins in November, Trump and Mitch McConnell will keep control of the Senate. They’ll ramp up the attacks on immigrants and the Affordable Care Act and do nothing to stop climate change. And since they’ve already acquitted him, there’ll be no limit to what Trump will do to abuse his power.
Democrat Mark Kelly is running to flip this seat blue and kick this Trump sycophant out of Congress. His wife, former congresswoman Gabby Giffords, was shot while meeting with her constituents in 2011. He and Gabby have become national leaders in the campaign for sensible gun reform, dedicating themselves to fighting the influence of the NRA in this country.
