The Ad Council's Newsletter for Social Good

Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, but love is still in the air here at the Ad Council. This month, we’re highlighting love in all its many forms. Read on…

YOU CAN’T BUY LOVE, BUT YOU CAN ADOPT IT

Our Adopt Shelter Pets campaign celebrated Valentine’s Day with an ode to the love between creator Claudia Sulewski and Peaches, her recently adopted pit bull. With support from Lightbox OOH Video Network, the campaign also revealed interactive ad units that invited mall shoppers to swipe right and left to match with nearby adoptable shelter pets. CELEBRATING 5 YEARS OF LOVE HAS NO LABELS

It’s hard to believe that half a decade has passed since Skeletons launched on Valentine’s Day 2015. The video, created pro bono by R/GA, would go on to earn over 170 million online views and be the cornerstone of a campaign that has touched millions of Americans with its message of understanding and acceptance. Five years on, Love Has No Labels is still working hard to reduce implicit bias: read more in Campaign, and check out our latest initiative with Reddit.

PROMOTING MENTAL HEALTH THROUGH ONLINE GAMING

The rise of online gaming has changed the way people make friends, so we partnered with Guild Wars 2 to spread the message of our Seize the Awkward teen mental health campaign. In the Ad Council’s first-ever in-game integration, over 11 million players received a campaign logo T-shirt for their avatars to wear, and we released a video showcasing real stories of players who have met and supported friends through the game. Catch our upcoming panel at the PAX East conference, exploring how games can foster safe and supportive environments.
