John,
Back when X was still called Twitter and Donald Trump was occupying the White House, he made it his mission to turn the four original Squad members into the GOP’s common enemy, constantly hurling racist tweets and verbal attacks their way.
It started with Trump telling the four women of color to “go back” to the countries they came from — when all four are U.S. citizens — because they spoke out against his xenophobic, inhumane immigration policies. Throughout the rest of his presidency, Trump continued to make Alexandria, Ilhan, Ayanna, and Rashida his #1 target.
Flash forward to today: Trump is the first former president in American history to be indicted not once, not twice, but three times. He is finally being held accountable for inciting a violent insurrection and trying to steal the 2020 election, and will go to trial while our Squad keeps fighting for the people in Congress.
But we can’t let our guard down.
Right now, Trump is STILL the leading Republican contender in the 2024 presidential race, with fellow white nationalist Ron DeSantis’ campaign floundering.
Despite his many crimes, Trump could very well be the GOP nominee for president once again. We cannot let this racist xenophobe anywhere near the White House or elected office. And we must re-elect ALL members of our growing Squad to hold Trump, DeSantis, and any other far-right fascists accountable.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
