Dear John,

This month sees World Elephant Day and we are using this to shine a light on the horrors of zoos and the cruelty of keeping animals captive for human entertainment.

Also, throughout August we are holding a Freedom Champion Sign-Up Month in honour of World Elephant Day. We really need to increase our number of amazing regular donors, so we can keep being here, fighting for the freedom of all animals and exposing the cruelty of captivity.

Will you join us this month and be one of our new Freedom Champions?

By making a monthly donation, you will help to show the dark side of captivity that zoos, aquariums and mobile zoos don’t want the world to see. You will play a critical role in stopping cruelty.

Will you join us as a Freedom Champion today?

🐘 £5 a month could equip 10 grassroots groups with materials to demonstrate outside of a zoo, turning customers away from this cruelty

🐳 £10 a month will power our ongoing work with whistleblowers, uncovering the hidden truth of animal suffering and putting in place actions to make a change

🐧 £20 a month could help fund one undercover investigation to expose the horrors of captivity and enable us to seek justice for animals

Throughout August, when you sign up to a monthly gift, you will not only receive our New Freedom Champion Sign-Up Bundle, you will also get a free eco-cuddly elephant as an extra special thank you!

All animals suffer in captivity and together we must show the truth behind the bars and in the cages.

For every elephant who has been ripped apart from their family and shipped to another zoo, for those whose cages are so small the mental torture causes stereotypical behaviours, for those who are kept in solitary confinement and those experiencing extreme pain in their feet from the unnatural floor substrate they are forced to walk on.

All of these things are happening right now to elephants in the UK and this is totally unacceptable. But with your help, we are here fighting for them!

And of course it isn't just elephants who suffer in zoos.

We are also fighting for all the birds who have half a wing removed and those who are tied down by their legs to stop them from flying away.

For all of those who are kept in tiny boxes and on display.

For those who are killed as they are ‘surplus to requirements’ because they are not part of the right gene pool, there are too many of them or they are too old and not ‘cute’ enough for the paying public.

For all those who are exploited for human entertainment.

There are so many hidden horrors of captivity. Many we don’t see; many are kept hidden and far too many are just accepted as how things have to be. But we are here to shine a light on these horrors and tell the truth of captivity and with your help we can do this.

We have been working for a world without cages for over 65 years, and in that time, thanks to your support we have achieved so much for animals, but to keep on achieving great things we must keep fighting.

We need your help to ensure we can be here to fight for ALL animals who are kept in captivity for human entertainment.

Things don’t have to be like this. We can create change, when we come together, when we make a stand! Animals can have a life of freedom!

I know you feel as I do, that every animal is an individual and every animal deserves their freedom. Please join us as our newest Freedom Champion today and help fight for the freedom of ALL animals.

Until all are free,

Andrew Kelly
