In 2022, reproductive freedom won BIG on ballot measures in red and blue states across the country—and now Republicans are stooping to new lows, using dirty tricks to rig the outcome of ballot initiatives.

Case in point is Ohio, where a November ballot initiative will give voters a chance to secure abortion rights in the state's constitution.

Since they know they'll lose, Republicans have put up their own ballot initiative that would raise the threshold needed to amend the state constitution from a simple majority to 60% —meaning a small minority could veto the majority's will. They've even gone on record about their scheme. Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose said their initiative to change the threshold is "100% about keeping [abortion access] out of our constitution."

Anti-abortion extremists know that reproductive freedom is a winning issue—so they'll do whatever it takes to change the rules, and then try it again, in state after state. Polls show support for Ohio's November reproductive freedom ballot measure winning by double digits. There's significant support across partisan lines, including a third of Republicans and a stunning 85% of independent women voters.

But anti-abortion Republicans don't want to risk letting the majority win and they've already announced a $5 million ad buy for this week.
