Dear John,
I’ve got hopeful — but time-sensitive — news.
Yasaman Aryani, a young Iranian human rights activist, has just had her sentence
reduced from 16 years in prison — to nine years and seven months.
We’ve been mobilizing our global movement on Yasaman’s behalf — putting our
energy and expertise to work to bring her home.
It seems like the Iranian authorities are listening to our voices. But even one
more day in prison is one too many. We must leverage this moment to demand her
unconditional and immediate release. Please take action right now.

With her hair uncovered, Yasaman handed out flowers to women passengers on a
train in Iran. It was International Women’s Day, and Yasaman — a young actor who
loves mountain climbing — peacefully protested Iran’s forced veiling laws in an
inspiring act of defiance.
A video of her brave act went viral, prompting Iran’s authorities to arrest her.
Yasaman was sentenced to a shocking 16-year prison term — all because she
believes women should have the freedom to choose what they wear.
Now, we must generate a groundswell of support for Yasaman and show Iranian
leaders that the world is watching. We’ve succeeded in winning the release of
other Iranian prisoners of conscience before.
Take action and help us do it again. For Yasaman!
