Hello there, John!
My name is Patricia Oliver, mom of Joaquin “Guac” Oliver and founder of Change The Ref.
When we lost Guac at the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, my husband and I made a commitment to keep his memory alive and honor him by fighting to end gun violence through our organization, Change The Ref. For those who knew and loved him, my son remains an incredible source of joy and inspiration in our lives.

One of my favorite actions we’ve hosted is our annual “Guacathon” — a celebration of Joaquin’s life and fundraiser for gun violence prevention. This year, we took that celebration on the road to spread Guac’s message far and wide to whoever would listen. We’ve already met so many families on the road who shared their stories of grief, pain, and joyful memories of loved ones they also lost to gun violence.
Tomorrow is Joaquin’s 23rd birthday, and we’ll be stopping in Milwaukee to celebrate his life.
March For Our Lives activists like you have always played a huge part in our work to end gun violence in America. Will you give any amount to March For Our Lives to support community events like Guacathon this year and spread our message of peace?

With your support, you’re helping us keep Joaquin’s memory alive and making a difference to ensure no other parent has to experience the trauma of losing a child in a mass shooting.
Viva Guac!

(P.S. If you can make it, I’d love to see you at one of the 23 Guacathon Tour stops.)
