Dear  john,

This week, the House passed a bill funding Military Construction and the Department of Veterans Affairs for Fiscal Year 2024. This is the first step in Speaker McCarthy honoring our deal in January to pass all twelve total annual appropriations bills separately. It has been well over a decade since Congress passed and had all twelve bills signed into law separately.  In years past, when the appropriations process broke down, Swamp leadership would force its uniparty priorities through in a monstrous “omnibus” package, which happened last December.

REMINDER: Last December’s Monsterbus

When Congress returns to Washington in September, I’ll be fighting alongside my conservative colleagues to stop this from spending binge from occurring again. We are working to ensure that there is an accountable and thorough process to fund the government while taking a major swing at the woke and weaponized bureaucracy.

In the meantime, I’m looking forward to spending some time in North Carolina and visiting with many of you!

Holding Government Censors Accountable

Federal executive branch employees have been trampling on Americans’ First Amendment rights via coercion of and collusion with Big Tech as part of the Censorship Industrial Complex.

While current law allows for Americans to sue state employees who violate their Constitutional rights, the law does not allow for lawsuits against federal employees who violate your civil liberties. When there is no accountability, bureaucrats will undoubtedly run roughshod over the Constitution. That must change.

That’s why this week, I introduced legislation with Rep. Harriet Hageman to equip people with the ability to sue federal bureaucrats to seek direct accountability and justice for these brazen violations of the First Amendment.

The Censorship Industrial Complex should no longer be allowed to operate with impunity, and those who seek to destroy the freedom of speech should have to answer for it in a court of law. This legislation is a key step in the fight against woke and weaponized government, and its passage will be a priority of mine going forward.

The Week in Weaponized Government

The same DOJ that set up the President’s son with a sweetheart plea deal is moving full speed ahead in going after President Biden’s chief political rival, President Trump.

These are the kinds of actions you would expect from a third world dictatorship. Worse yet, we learned that before Judge Maryellen Noreika intervened, the plea deal sought to give Hunter Biden immunity against all future charges, including potential Foreign Agent Registration Act violations. I joined Steve Bannon’s War Room yesterday to talk about the latest in weaponized government and what we’re doing about it:

While our government’s corruption is plain to see for anyone paying attention, the deep state doesn’t want Americans talking about the rot in our federal agencies. When we held a hearing on government censorship last week, the Democrats kicked off the hearing by trying to censor the witness. You really can’t make this stuff up.

It’s pervasive, it’s in your face – and that’s on purpose. I joined the Evening Edit last Friday night to talk about how many liberals have abandoned their core values in favor of a weaponized government:

The Department of Homeland Security – A Hive of Scum and Villainy

Remember the “Disinformation Governance Board” housed under the DHS? That was just the tip of the iceberg for DHS’ censorship schemes. I grilled Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas this week about how CISA, an agency within DHS, was the hub from which many censorship efforts originated – and he admitted under oath that CISA did indeed “switchboard,” or censor content.

This is why my previously mentioned Censorship Accountability Act is so important. I’ll continue to investigate this misconduct and work to find additional ways to hold these bureaucrats accountable.

Mayorkas also claimed that on his watch, the cartels that dominate our border have been weakened severely. The attempt at spin is laughable at best, and tragic for the Americans who have been hurt by cartel violence.
