Keeping Communist
China Out of Wyoming

China's slow but steady mission
to buy up American farmland is alarming.

It has managed to buy roughly
384,000 acres of U.S. farmland and a large portion of the land
surrounds military bases. While we do not know what exactly the
Chinese Communist Party is up to, we know it is not good.

I joined U.S. Senator Mike Rounds
(R-SD) to put an end to this practice by passing an amendment to
the National Defense Authorization Act of 2024 that would ban
foreign adversaries from purchasing American farmland and
agricultural businesses. The amendment helps secure our nation's
food supply and prevents our nation's adversaries, like China,
from engaging in espionage and other nefarious activities around
military bases like FE Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne.

Allowing China, Russia, Iran and
North Korea to buy Wyoming farmland is like inviting the fox into
the hen house.

As a lifelong rancher, I know
just how tough it is to operate with the skyrocketing cost of
supplies. The last thing Wyoming ranchers should be worried about
is the Chinese Communist Party setting up shop next to them.

I am confident that by
recognizing and responding to the threats posed to America by
hostile foreign countries we will strengthen our national
security.

Happy Trails,

Senator Lummis' Week in Pictures

I had a great time talking with
the Wyoming members of the American Legion Boys Nation and
American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation -- Emma Johnson from
Powell, Emma Pehringer from Buffalo, Caleb Matthew Greenlee from
Cheyenne and Jhett Michael West from Sheridan.

American Legion is a terrific
organization that allows high school students from around the
country to participate in model government and helps shape future
leaders.

As we wind down toward the end of
our summer here in Washington, we sadly have to say goodbye to a
terrific group of interns.

Thank you to Jennifer Campos,
Samantha Reeves, Michael Newman and Ianna Harrison for a truly
great summer.

I know they are all going to go
on to do terrific things, and hopefully I will see most of them
back around the halls of the Senate sooner rather than later!

WORKING
IN WASHINGTON

Legislative Actions:

I joined U.S.
Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) in sending a letter to major shipping
companies to question their policies that prevent the transport
of some legal firearms and ammunition.

The letter
raised concerns that the Second Amendment rights of the people of
Wyoming are being infringed upon by shipping companies and asked
if the companies had worked with radical gun control
organizations to craft the restrictive policies.

This week, the
Tribal Trust Land Homeownership Act, which I sponsored, passed
the Senate.

This
legislation would accelerate the review and processing of
mortgages on trust land, making tribal homeownership easier in
Wyoming.

Committee Hearings:

During a Senate
Environment and Public Works hearing, I highlighted the hypocrisy
of radical California policies that attempt to outlaw energy
production in the state while simultaneously importing energy
from states like Wyoming. We cannot allow this type of backwards
thinking to expand across our entire country. Watch the hearing
here.

WORKING
IN WYOMING

Media:
I joined CoinDesk's
First Mover show on Wednesday to discuss crypto assets and why
the Lummis-Gillibrand Responsible Financial Innovation Act is the
most comprehensive and bipartisan bill before Congress to
adequately protect consumers and fuel financial innovation. Watch
the interview here.
Working for Wyoming:
While being able to
look out from your front porch and see nothing but land is one of
the best parts about living in Wyoming, just how rural and remote
areas of our beautiful state are does present some challenges.
This is particularly difficult when it comes to having access to
high-quality health care and education.

I partnered with
Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) this week to introduce the
Strengthening Telehealth and Education for Rural Communities Act
to increase rural access to telehealth and education services.
People living in rural Wyoming deserve the same access to health
care and education that folks in urban areas have, and that can
help be achieved through the utilization of telecommunications
technology. This legislation accomplishes that by reauthorizing
the Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program which
provides funding to tribal and rural communities in Wyoming to
facilitate telehealth and learning projects.

GRANT OPPORTUNITIES FOR WYOMING

Did you happen to miss our
Federal Funding Summit?

I have heard from so many of you
just how helpful this summit was and wanted to make sure those
who were unable to attend still have access to the videos of the
multi-day event.

The intensive workshop provided
free professional instruction, access to agency representatives
and various resources to help localities, counties and
non-government organizations (NGO's) apply for, secure and manage
federal funds.

You can watch the video of the
first day of programming here and the second day here.

WYOMING SHOUT OUT

Brady Lowry and Kendall Cummings'
hike last fall took a turn for the worst when a grizzly bear
attacked them. The bear was in for quite the surprise. Lowry and
Cummings utilized their training as wrestlers at Northwest
College in Powell and fought back. Their quick reaction allowed
them to scare the bear off and likely saved their lives.

They quickly got down the
mountain with the help of two friends and are very grateful to
tell the tale. This past weekend at Cheyenne Frontier Days, the
pair were honored for their heroism. While their story is
inspirational and uplifting, I ask all of you to please be extra
cautious when hiking as we have seen a number of human encounters
with grizzlies recently.
