Fellow Nashvillians:

My daughter Alice sent me her latest information video on how’s she ready to be our Mayor.

I am lifelong Nashvillian, a graduate of Hillsboro High School, a business owner and one of the last farmers in Davidson County. Our family traces back to the very first settlers of Nashville.

But I’m writing today with my favorite title - dad of three daughters and proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren with another on the way - all who live nearby.

I’d like to share some things about Alice’s background that might further help you understand how prepared she is and how proud I am of her desire to serve our city.

Alice graduated from Hume Fogg High School where her grandfather also graduated. She earned her bachelor's degree from Stanford University and has an MBA from the University of Virginia.

Her first job out of college was as a teacher in Los Angeles Unified School District. Then she severed for many years as an aide to U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander and later as an Assistant Commissioner of Economic Development in the administration of Gov. Bill Haslam.

I mention the above for her capacity and knowledge of how to get things done at the state and federal level.

In the private sector she has founded or been a senior executive of companies that grew rapidly with her leadership - a trait that is important now in our city government.

All of this adds up to her ability to build broad coalitions to get things done, which makes he a great choice to lead our city in its next chapter.

I voted early and hope you will - polls close today at 5:30 and are open tomorrow from 8:30 - 4:30pm.
