We’re closing in on 1,000 signatures on our petition to Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, who introduced the Support UNFPA Funding Act in the House of Representatives.
This bill protects UNFPA funding from being canceled for five years — a measure that will have real world impacts on the lives of women and girls around the world.
If you’ve already signed, thank you! If you haven’t yet, will you add your name before midnight to help us deliver 1,000 signatures to Rep. Houlahan’s desk? We can’t leave women and girls behind, which is why we need you to speak up in support of this legislation. [[link removed]]

This is important, friend: The Support UNFPA Funding Act was just reintroduced in Congress.
In a moment, we’ll explain why this bill is so important to our work. But first, we’re asking you to protect critical funding for women and girls around the world by signing our petition in favor of the Support UNFPA Funding Act. [[link removed]]
Right now, the US President can roll back funding for UNFPA — the UN Sexual and Reproductive Health Agency — at any time. There are real world repercussions on our humanitarian work for women and girls if UNFPA funding is abruptly cut off.
Women and girls living through wars in Sudan and Ukraine, extreme drought in the Horn of Africa, and crisis settings around the world are even less able to access care and have their needs met when funding is cut.
That’s where the Support UNFPA Funding Act comes in. Introduced by Rep. Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, this legislation protects UNFPA funding from being canceled for five years. It also boldly states that:
 *
   Improving
   the
   status
   of
   women
   around
   the
   world
   is
   a
   critical
   component
   of
   the
   United
   States'
   foreign
   policy
   and
   development
   strategies.

 *
   Every
   person
   has
   a
   fundamental
   right
   to
   decide
   if,
   when,
   and
   with
   whom
   to
   have
   children
   and
   to
   attain
   the
   highest
   standard
   of
   sexual
   and
   reproductive
   health.

 *
   Access
   to
   voluntary
   contraception
   and
   reproductive
   health
   care
   is
   necessary
   to
   improve
   the
   status
   of
   women
   and
   ensure
   this
   basic
   human
   right.
Passing this legislation will mean UNFPA programs delivering essential sexual and reproductive health care can continue serving women and girls around the world without fear of scaling back. We can’t leave women and girls behind, which is why we are asking for you to speak up in favor of this legislation today.
