I want to take a couple of minutes to explain a little more about The Hechinger Report because we serve a very specific purpose.
Here are some facts about The Hechinger Report and a few ways you can connect with us.
We're a nonprofit news organization with a mission: Cover innovation and inequality in education.
We cover all facets of learning, from preschool to college and beyond, in our daily stories published on HechingerReport.org. While we're interested in uncovering problems and holding the powerful to account, we're also interested in programs that can point a way forward to real solutions. Our stories are known both for their nuance and for painting a detailed picture of the hard work educators do to make life better for the students in their care.
Hechinger Report Facts
- Our full-time staff of 17 — in conjunction with our media partners and our group of top-notch freelancers from around the country — reports, edits and produces an average of two stories a day.
- Since our launch in 2010, we have won more than 50 journalism awards, including several first place wins in nationally competitive contests.
- We are funded by donations from members (readers like you), charitable gifts, community partnerships and foundations.
- The average donor gives $120/year — but we offer member benefits for as little as $35.
As you get to know us, I'd like you to think about how much this service is worth to you. Is it worth $10 per month? $25? $500? Even if you can't donate as much as you feel it's worth, I hope you'll make a decision to support us.
