Welcome to the July edition of The Moran Minuteman.

This monthly newsletter is our way of recognizing extraordinary efforts in Texas Congressional District 1 and providing an inside look into what happens behind the scenes in the life of a Congressman.

The month of July brought a brief break from our work in Washington, DC, as we were on recess to celebrate our nation's independence. It was a great opportunity to both travel across the First District to meet with constituents and spend valuable time with my family.

We are refreshed and ready to get back to work on behalf of East Texas values!

Congratulations to our July Minuteman -

When I think of East Texans, I think of the Minutemen of the Revolutionary War. Loyal to country and community, dependable, selfless, and ready at a moment’s notice, the Minutemen were American heroes who helped turn the tide of the Revolutionary War. Today’s East Texans reflect those traits. You are patriotic, dependable, and deeply committed to making our communities better.

Each month, I will recognize an East Texan who has gone above and beyond in serving our region - someone who epitomizes the identity of a Minuteman. In addition to recognition in the monthly newsletter, we will send the person a Moran Minuteman t-shirt.

This month’s Minuteman, Greg Peeler, didn't wait for someone to ask for help after severe weather decimated parts of East Texas. Instead, in the early morning hours following the storms, he reached out to local elected officials, asking what needed to be done. After hearing that resources would be delayed in reaching East Texas, Greg ordered and personally funded four pallets of water and two ice trailers to be delivered and distributed immediately. And when water was still needed a few days later, Greg has 20 more pallets of water delivered and distributed.

But he didn't stop with providing supplies. On Father's Day, Greg learned that a major water system was on the verge of failure. He drove to the site, assessed the situation, and ordered two large generators that were needed to ensure the water system stayed online.

These actions and the fact that Greg just showed up, ready to help at a moment's notice, exemplify the spirit of the Minuteman. Thank you, Greg, for stepping up when your community needed you. We want to show our appreciation by naming Greg Peeler the July Minuteman.

Do you know an East Texan who would be a great next recipient? Please submit their name here.

Our Moran Minuteman team will also be out and about serving at community events and in disaster relief efforts. Look for us, and we’ll toss you a t-shirt!

Nominate a Minuteman!
Please join us on Thursday, August 10th, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for a screening of Sound of Freedom at Times Square Grand Slam! Come hear from our local heroes, For the Silent, on how to advocate to help end human trafficking in our community. Please fill out this form to RSVP. I hope to see you there!

Delivering on Promises

When I ran for Congress, I promised to stand up for parents and families across East Texas. There has never been a time in our history when parental rights have been as vulnerable as they are now. That is why I supported the Parents Bill of Rights, including co-sponsoring the Protect Kids Act, which was included in this important legislative package. Hear more about it in this KTBB segment.
Faith, family, and freedom. Those are the lenses through which I approach all decisions. After our brief break, I am now back in the Capitol, working to further our shared conservative principles. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
Sincerely,
Nathaniel Moran
Congressman, First District of Texas
