John,
Today marks fourteen years since the last time the federal minimum wage was raised – to just $7.25 an hour. Since then, the cost of living has skyrocketed, and too many families are struggling to keep up.
Pennsylvania is one of just 20 states that still only requires employers to pay their employees the federal minimum wage. John, $7.25 was not enough in 2009, and it's certainly not enough today.
Too many families in northeastern Pennsylvania – and across the country – are struggling to provide for their families, despite working a full-time job. That's why Matt was proud to cosponsor the Raise the Wage Act last session to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 by 2025 – but Republicans have blocked progress on a minimum wage increase at every turn.
Matt believes that every person deserves to be paid a living wage – but now he wants to hear from you. Take our poll: Do you support raising the federal minimum wage?
