Dear  john,

I hope that you and your family are well. This week in Washington, Republicans held hearings to investigate the censorship industrial enterprise, the Biden family’s corruption, and the continuously raging border crisis. We also voted on legislation to end unnecessary national emergencies and a bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration for five years.

The Week in Weaponized Government

This week, our Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government held a hearing where we scrutinized the federal government's role in censoring Americans, Big Tech's collusion with the government, and the Missouri v. Biden case.

One of our witnesses, Emma-Jo Morris, authored the blockbuster story in 2020 revealing the existence of the Hunter Biden laptop and the Biden family’s corruption. Big government and Big Tech worked together to censor the bombshell laptop story, even though the FBI knew that the laptop and its contents were real, verified, and not the result of "foreign misinformation" well in advance of the government’s hack-and leak warnings to industry.

The government’s censorship is blatant, and that's by design. Watch my full questioning about the FBI’s knowledge and cover up here:

Every week, we learn of a new story revealing just how deep the rot runs within the Biden family’s dealings. This week, Senator Chuck Grassley released an FBI document, an FD-1023, memorializing an interview with a confidential human source where the source alleged that Joe Biden was involved in a $5,000,000 bribery scheme with a Burisma executive while he was Vice President.

This week, whistleblowers also testified before the House Oversight Committee, alleging that the Biden administration prevented investigators from doing their jobs looking into this corruption. The IRS whistleblowers also revealed that the Bidens received approximately $17 million from foreign countries. What else could they be selling but access to power?

TWEET: New Evidence from Whistleblowers.

As this story unfolds, I will do all in my power to ensure that we use the full authority of Congress to expose and punish these crimes.

Finally, this week, President Trump announced that he is a target of an investigation related to January 6th, and will likely be indicted by the DOJ in the coming weeks. The Biden DOJ’s actions epitomize the dangerous two-tiered, banana republic style approach to justice. I will continue to monitor the developments in this case and fight against the weaponization of the federal government.

TWEET: This is horrible news for the American people.

Open Borders Kill.

Our wide-open southern border is proving to be highly beneficial – to cartels and criminals. Fentanyl deaths, human trafficking, and cartel violence have all grown due to Biden's border crisis.

This week in the House Homeland Security Committee, we continued our investigation of Biden and Mayorkas' deliberate actions to create and exacerbate the current border crisis, holding hearings on the disastrous impact of the administration halting border wall construction and the human cost of these policies.

WATCH: "It literally looks like a military invasion."

This isn't just an issue in border states. In a tragic incident close to home, a high school senior in Cornelius recently died after being targeted by fentanyl dealers who were later charged with trafficking felonies.

Open borders kill. These deaths are preventable, but the Biden administration refuses to enforce our laws and secure the border.

Fighting Against the Swamp’s Status Quo

While the Biden administration continues implementing unjust and unpopular policies by circumventing Congress, some of my Senate colleagues, including Senator Tommy Tuberville, are fighting back.

After the Biden administration decided to use taxpayer funds to cover abortion travel for military members, Senator Tuberville refused to advance military promotions by unanimous consent until Biden stops using federal funds to pay for abortion.

TWEET: Standing with Sen. Tuberville

I joined a group of my House colleagues in standing on the Senate floor in support of Tuberville’s stand for life this week. I am also heartened to see Senators JD Vance and Rand Paul using their power to fight against other woke and weaponized policies.

TWEET: Democrats are outraged.

While news from Washington can often be bleak, many of us still want to restore a government of and for the people.

North Carolina News

On Wednesday, a tornado tore through Nash County. While there were thankfully no fatalities, 16 people were injured, and numerous buildings were damaged. I ask you to join me in praying for those impacted.

Happy Ending for a Military Family

In some better news, our constituent services team in Monroe was able to help recover the military medals and awards for the family of Army Staff Sergeant Joe Wilson Fink, a now-deceased WWII veteran. Sergeant Fink's daughter, Mrs. Nelda Fink Staton, requested my office’s assistance in tracking down his military records to learn more about his service to our country. Sergeant Fink's service records were destroyed in a fire many years ago. It was an honor to assist the family, but even bigger joy to present his family with his awards, including a Purple Heart, a Presidential Unit Citation, and a Bronze Star Medal. Mrs. Staton plans to honor her father's service by preserving his medals and awards in a shadowbox.

My office stands ready to assist with any similar requests or issues you have with a federal agency, no matter how big or small. Thank you to Mrs. Staton for trusting our team with this request and allowing us to share her family's story in our newsletter.
