I wanted to send you this note from my boss for a couple of reasons.

------------------------------------------------------------

Hi John.

I wanted to send you this note from my boss for a couple of reasons.

First, more and more taxpayers like you are reading and supporting our investigative journalism. It’s exciting to see politicians feeling the heat. So I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss this.

Second, my boss had a typo right in the first sentence. I just had to fix it. Here’s the re-edited email below.

Thanks for standing with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation and have a great day.

* Ryan Thorpe – Investigative Journalist

------------------------------------------------------------

Hi John,

Politicians are getting sneakier and media watchdogs are getting sleepier, but you don’t have shrug and take it.

Here’s the problem. Some reporters are trying to do the job right, but we can’t be naïve.

Politicians give CBC $1.2 billion a year. They announced a $700-million bailout for private-sector media. Polls show people are having trouble believing the press.

And rightfully so.

Here’s the good news: YOU have your own investigative reporter at the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

His name is Ryan Thorpe. His research just landed on the front page of the National Post under the headline: Trudeau government increased federal employees 40% since election in 2015.

When Ryan digs up waste, you can hold politicians accountable. And politicians are feeling the heat.

A few days ago, a member of Parliament phoned me to complain our research is making him look bad. A few days before that, a senator phoned to complain. They can complain all they want, but we never take government funding so there’s nothing they can do about it.

For about 99% of people, these stories are the only way they’ll hear about this wasteful spending. That means they can hold their politicians accountable.

But 1% of people take one more step.

We’re counting on 1% of people like you who are reading this email to chip in with donations so we can catch the government wasting money on the prime minister’s cottage estate, the governor general’s travel expenses and so much more.

You can be a part of every investigative story by donating $10 on our secure website:

Ryan’s working hard and your support means he’ll have even more resources to dig even deeper.

Thanks for your support – you can get a lot done when we all work together.
* Todd MacKay
Vice-President of Communications – Canadian Taxpayers Federation

PS: Honestly, it’s kind of fun when politicians phone me to complain. Even a $10 donation will mean I’ll get even more of those calls. You can chip in on our secure website:
