Friend,
This week, I was joined by 49 of my colleagues in the Senate in re-introducing the Freedom to Vote Act, legislation to improve access to the ballot for Americans, advance federal election standards and campaign finance reform, and protect American democracy.
The bill includes many provisions that have already been enacted right here in Virginia, such as:
-
Automatic voter registration
- Same-day and Election Day voter registration
- Online voter registration
- No-excuse mail voting
But that’s not all. In addition to bringing Virginia’s successes to every corner of the country, it would protect states from potential attacks by state legislators who want to make it harder for voters to cast their ballots.
I’m really proud to have led the way on this important bill. The strength of our democracy depends on Americans’ ability to make their voices heard. And the Freedom to Vote Act will protect the right to vote and make it easier and more convenient for all Americans to exercise that right.
If you’re with me in the fight to protect our democracy, I hope you’ll join me by adding your name in support of this legislation.
