Calling All Heroes! The NVFS Back2School Drive is Back

It’s no secret that money is tight for many families right now. This makes school supplies a luxury for a family struggling to pay their bills. Your help with the Back2School <[link removed]> drive will ensure every child will have a backpack full of new school supplies, giving them the confidence they need to begin the school year right, while easing the financial burden for their families.

Check out these three ways you can contribute so all children can follow their dreams:

1. Donate <[link removed]> today! Your donation, preferably before August 7, will have the biggest impact.

2. Team fundraise <[link removed]> with your office or civic group.

3. Sponsor <[link removed]> the Back2School drive to help level the playing field for all children in our community.

4. Contribute school supplies <[link removed]> from our official list and drop them off Wednesday, 7/26 from 9am-1pm or Thursday 7/27 from 1pm-6pm at at 11884 Grand Commons Ave., Fairfax, VA 22030.

YOUR support of the Back2School drive will make a tangible impact on a child’s success - both in the classroom and beyond.

Staff Spotlight: Heidi Camp, Intake & Referral Coordinator

Heidi Camp, our Hunger Resource Center (HRC) bilingual intake and referral coordinator, joined the team after years of volunteering and donating to NVFS. Her work at the HRC helps connect our neighbors, who come in need of food, to additional NVFS and community resources to help meet their needs beyond hunger. Heidi’s resourceful and compassionate support encourages HRC visitors to honestly share their circumstances which allow us to help the whole person, and whole family so they may begin their journey to wellbeing. Heidi's efforts make a lasting impact on her colleagues and HRC clients alike.

“Before, I was struggling a lot. Heidi [proved she]... will do anything and everything she can [to help] me... My life has changed – it is calm and stress free,” explained Sofia, who recently moved here from Guatemala.

Thank you Heidi for all you do!
