Hi there,
The extremist anti-abortion organization Operation Save America (OSA) is hosting their annual event in Atlanta, Georgia this week.
OSA is a group of anti-abortion activists who want to ban abortion entirely. They spread disinformation to attack access to abortion care. They know abortion is very popular and the science shows how safe it is. They can't win this fight based on the facts—so they resort to lying.
We have volunteers in Georgia (and in states across the country) organizing on the ground every day to advocate for reproductive freedom and drown out this disinformation with the truth—and we wanted to share some tips and tricks for combatting disinformation, no matter where you live.
Read our newest blog post sharing tips to identify and combat anti-abortion disinformation.
Some key tips:
> Watch out for these red flags when reading content:
- Sources are untrustworthy
- Evidence is strictly anecdotal
- Their claims sound wildly exaggerated
- Pregnant people are conspicuously absent from the conversation
> Don't retweet, like, or intentionally amplify anti-abortion content:
- Avoid amplifying disinformation, even if you're debunking it. Instead, repeat and amplify content that accurately discusses abortion
> Debunk one-size-fits-all claims:
- The science around pregnancy is complex, and all pregnancies are different. That's why the best health care takes place privately between a pregnant person and those they love and trust.
Read more tips at our blog and then share how to combat anti-abortion disinformation with your friends and family.
Thank you for being a reproductive freedom advocate today and every day.
