We covered the upcoming Farm Bill, the importance of robust crop insurance protections, potential new export markets for soybeans, and voluntary conservation programs. WORKING TO BOLSTER OUR DEFENSES AGAINST FOREIGN ANIMAL DISEASE OUTBREAKS Like every producer fears, foreign animal disease (FAD) can devastate flocks and herds, preventing our farmers from selling their high-quality product on the global market. That’s why I’m working to protect our producers from the nightmare scenario of an FAD outbreak while ensuring that, in times of crisis, our farmers can continue to safely export their goods around the globe. This bill will help develop crucial infrastructure, including cold chain storage facilities, to ensure that we can ship Iowa beef, chicken, turkey, pork, grains, specialty crops and other perishables worldwide.
