Welcome to another edition of our digital newsletter, Temp Check. Summer is in full swing–the temperature is rising, and so is the energy to defend and expand abortion access across the country. I'm so excited about what's ahead for this movement, and I can't wait to continue on this journey together (just not aboard a mega-yacht #TeamOrca).

What's Hot in July

Disability Pride Month recognizes the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and while the ADA is an important piece of legislation, there is still a long way to go.

People with disabilities face systemic challenges while seeking health care and are among those who are affected most by abortion bans. Confronting ableism is intrinsic to the fight for reproductive freedom. Bodily autonomy and the right to competent care are central to both the disability rights movement and our own. We will continue to show up and support the disability community in meaningful ways.

One Year Without Roe

The fight for our right to determine our own futures continues. Last month, our volunteers and staff joined partners at marches and protests across the country in recognition of the one-year mark of the Dobbs decision.

What's the moment in this movement you are most proud of?
Sending Nabilah Islam to the Georgia State Senate. Gwinnett County is an extremely diverse area, and I'm proud to have helped elect someone who is representative of the community.

What are you looking forward to next in the fight for reproductive freedom?
Meeting new volunteers at some upcoming events like the 36th annual Bill Pickett Rodeo, a historically Black rodeo, and Atlanta Pride.

What do you do when you are resting?
When I am not working, I am Samba dancing with Unidos Atlanta Escola De Samba. We recently performed in Atlanta's 2023 Juneteenth Parade in Downtown Atlanta.

Who are your heroes?
Dr. Jasmine Clark and Dr. Michelle Au. I follow them both on social media and appreciate that their advocacy is rooted in real and accurate data, especially concerning gun safety and abortion care & access in Georgia.

What's your favorite merch from our store?
I have two Pomeranians, so I love the Pro-Choice Pet Bandana. [ [link removed] ]

Abortion access will remain a critical need, and this team is coming in hot to protect, restore, and advance reproductive freedom for everybody. I'd love to see more people join this fight. Can you forward this email to your friends and family so they can see what we're all about?
