Republicans are looking for Senate candidates who are filthy rich
A recent Politico article states that Republicans have landed on a plan to gain an advantage in their fight to re-take the Senate in 2024: Recruit rich candidates.
According to the report, at least 10 candidates with a “sizable” net worth are seriously considering self-funded Senate campaigns in many swing states -- many at the behest of the NRSC.
And we all remember that VA Gov. Glenn Youngkin put $20 million of his own money into his 2021 campaign.
Well, we’ve got a news flash for you, team: Tim Kaine is not a billionaire, and he’s not a self-funder.
That’s why our Finance Director, Jenny, sent you a message yesterday about our mid-month fundraising goal -- with a twist:
Our goal has nothing to do with how much money we actually raise. We’re only focused on the number of individual contributions .
The strength and health of our campaign will only last through next November if we have a robust and dependable grassroots army of supporters like you pitching in a few bucks at a time. It’s the ONLY way we can survive the ups and downs of a rough-and-tumble campaign.
We’ve set an ambitious goal of reaching 500 contributions by midnight tomorrow. Thanks to you, we’ve made good progress, but we’re still in danger of missing our target. Here’s a look at where we are right now:
