At this week’s presidential debates in Detroit, things got hot. Really hot.
Big ideas – and big egos – were on the line.

As momentum builds towards 2020, things will get even hotter. Tempers will flare. Because everything is on the line: our democracy, our rights, our planet and our future.

At People’s Action, we’re ready. We’re asking candidates the hard questions, to find out who the real people’s champion will be.

Starting in September, we’ll host presidential candidate forums in Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan and Nevada. At our forums, anchored by our local member organizations and by Student Action, real people will take center stage to talk about their priorities, ask questions and weigh responses.
And we’re hitting the ground to challenge the candidates. We’re asking about the issues that matter most to our members: Medicare For All, Free College For All, a Green New Deal and a Housing Guarantee.
“It feels good to know that, as young people, we have an impact,” says Kat Legier, a Student Action member of the New Hampshire Youth Movement, who spoke with Sen. Elizabeth Warren in New Hampshire.
“When we put pressure on these candidates to speak to things that are important to us, we’re not just thinking about ourselves,” says Kat. “We’re fighting for a better future for all.”
But we know it will take way more than one candidate to turn this country around.
That’s why we’re recruiting and training more than 500 grassroots community leaders to run for elected office at every level of government, who will co-govern to advance the values and goals in our People’s Platform.
We can do this. Government can be, truly, by and for the people. But we can’t do it without your help.
