Just days ago, I announced my candidacy to represent the people of the Lower Hudson Valley, and I couldn’t be more humbled and grateful for the outpouring of support. Particularly after last week’s decision by the Republican majority on the Supreme Court to legalize discrimination against LGBTQ+ people.

The support from this grassroots team couldn’t come at a more critical moment. Last week’s Supreme Court ruling in 303 Creative made LGBTQ+ people second-class citizens by allowing businesses to refuse service.
It's so important that our representatives are actually representative of the people. It’s what I mean when I say that for me, policy is personal. It should be a priority of Congress to step in and protect LGBTQ+ people by passing the Equality Act, in addition to fighting for racial and gender equity. But right now, that's not happening.
This race isn’t about recognition or fame; it’s personal. It’s about aligning our values with our leadership.
I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get back to work to ensure everyone—regardless of what neighborhood you were born in, what political party you belong to, who you are, or who you love—has the opportunity to succeed.
