Jennifer Wexton for Congress

JOhn, the Supreme Court wrapped up its term last week. And — as seems to be the unfortunate norm these days — this term contained many rulings that are going to set our country’s progress back.

But as we fight to organize against recent setbacks, it’s important to note one area in which the Supreme Court has given us momentum: achieving fair district lines across this country.

In two undeniably positive rulings last month, the Supreme Court upheld a critical section of the Voting Rights Act that protects against racial gerrymandering, and it rejected an extreme Republican effort to let state legislatures ignore state court mandates on redistricting.

Jennifer was heartened by these two decisions, and she’s more determined than ever to keep the push alive for fair district legislation in Congress. Will you join her and sign your name to say that you’re ready to end gerrymandering?

Gerrymandering dilutes the meaning of “one person, one vote.” And Jennifer has long believed that legislators shouldn’t get to choose their voters.

Here in Virginia, gerrymandering for years left us stuck with a state legislature that didn't reflect the will of the people — a legislature that made it harder to pass popular, common-sense policies like Medicaid expansion, gun safety, and voting rights protections.

Thanks to years of work by activists and legal advocates, we managed to strike down Virginia's gerrymander in court and finally get fair districts in the Commonwealth. But millions across the country will still lack proper representation until we end gerrymandering everywhere.

Our democracy cannot achieve its full potential until we institute fair district lines for all. Add your name today to help Jennifer in the fight to end gerrymandering →
