Last month, we rallied in Chicago to defend the Illinois’ Assault Weapons and Switches Ban from pro-gun groups that are trying to dismantle the law.

After the mass shooting in Highland Park last Fourth of July, where seven people were killed and 48 people were injured, Illinois finally banned assault weapons and switches. That horrific tragedy spurred Illinois to action, and after dogged activism by survivors and young people with March For Our Lives, we won a lifesaving law.

That is until, days later, the NRA challenged it in court. We won’t let it stand. Earlier this year, we filed an amicus brief with the court sharing the stories of young people and survivors who have had their lives torn apart by assault weapons and switches. And on the first day of oral arguments, we rallied in Chicago to demand the court uphold this lifesaving law and to send a strong message: We will never back down from this fight.

We are prepared to fight till the end to make sure we can grow up and live in a country free from gun violence.
