We need to shed light on Congressman Pete Stauber's blatant hypocrisy regarding the recent Supreme Court ruling that struck down the student debt plan, which held the potential to alleviate the burdens of millions of Americans burdened with student loans. It's concerning that Stauber not only celebrated this decision, but conveniently ignored the fact that his own business, Stauber Brothers Inc., shamelessly capitalized on federal relief programs.
At the height of the pandemic, when so many Americans and small businesses struggled to get by, Stauber’s hockey supply store received over $86,000 in PPP loans. Astonishingly, both of these loans were forgiven, leaving Stauber Brothers debt-free.
Despite this fact, Stauber had the audacity to Tweet, “Americans should not be forced to subsidize someone else’s tuition through their hard-earned tax dollars.” Yet, that’s precisely what his business did. He clearly has no problem making Americans spend their hard-earned money if it benefits him.
This level of hypocrisy is unacceptable. We must elect a leader who practices what they preach and who understands the struggles of everyday Americans. Jen Schultz is that leader.
The good news is that the tide is turning on Pete Stauber. Recent public calls out by the news and the White House have started to shed light on Stauber's lies.
