When Chair Hart and I were first elected, we immediately recognized the geographical and scheduling challenges that would limit our ability to be present at every meeting across all 99 counties.

Since then, we’ve developed an Ambassador Program to improve communication between the grassroots and the Iowa Democratic Party headquarters so we can provide support and lift up all of the great work happening in every corner of the state.

Here’s what we’ve been up to since our last update:

We are closing in on having an IDP Ambassador for all 99 counties!

Chair Hart and I have held two debrief sessions in the last month with our ambassadors.

Our ambassadors shared lots of exciting news about local outreach, voter engagement, fundraising, and party-building activities that our county parties are already working on. 

From former candidates to current and former SCC members to former county chairs to former campaign staff and more, our ambassadors bring a wealth of knowledge and resources to the role, but their primary task is to listen to their county party's needs.

I’m proud of the progress we’ve already made with this program, and I can’t wait to turn these conversations into concrete actions.
