New Ad Reminds New Yorkers That Cuomo Wanted Full Repeal of

Bail Laws, Even for Murderers and Rapists

New York--January 30th...New York Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy today released a new web video reminding New Yorkers about the truth of Cuomo’s position on bail reform and his extreme push last year for the complete elimination of bail for all crimes.

The ad, entitled, The Extreme Cuomo Truth, will run on digital platforms across New York State. It features Cuomo’s own words in an interview with WNYC’s Brian Lehrer, where Cuomo said it would be the “perfect” scenario to eliminate bail for all crimes. The law that was enacted did not apply to several violent felonies, yet it is still causing a public safety crisis with law enforcement, judges and the public all outraged over its impact. Every day, there are news stories about New Yorkers being injured or killed by career criminals benefiting from revolving door justice.

“We are witnessing a public safety nightmare thanks to Cuomo and the Democrat-controlled legislature. While the Governor is now trying to muddy the waters to avoid blame, we are going to remind people that not only did he push for this, but he wanted a full repeal, with every criminal getting out of jail free--including murderers and rapists. Even with its limitations, this insane policy is letting dangerous criminals back on the streets. I shudder to think what the consequences would be if Cuomo had gotten what he said he wanted.”

He continued, “We are going to make sure his words are in the minds of every single voter when they go to the polls this year. The radicals controlling our state government made this mess and they are going to be held accountable for it.”
