Happy Independence Day, friends!

Today is a celebration of the freedom to choose our own paths, as individuals and as a nation.

It’s likely that we don’t see eye-to-eye on every single issue. Maybe, like me, you prefer New York-style pizza over Chicago-style pizza.

Or, while I love to spend the day at parades and celebrations with the wonderful people of IL-06, perhaps you prefer to spend the day quietly reading in the backyard or working over the grill.

Yet, in spite of these vast differences, I know we share the same commitment to building a stronger, fairer, more responsive democracy. And I can’t thank you enough for your support in that endeavor.

I’m wishing you and your loved ones a joyous and restful holiday. Here’s to fireworks, BBQ, and a chance to uphold the values we hold dear.
