Celebrating Life

This past Saturday marked the one-year anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Mississippi was on the front lines of this fight by bringing the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case to the Supreme Court. I am grateful that a monumental victory for protecting the sanctity of life was decided because of our state’s leadership on this critical issue and that our Mississippi values of life are spreading across our nation to other states. I’m a proud member of the Appropriations Committee, where Republicans are keeping up the fight. In recent weeks, the Committee has advanced legislation that would stop the Biden Administration’s reckless abortion policies in the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense, as well as its expansion of chemical abortion drugs by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These committee efforts have been endorsed by the National Right to Life and Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. I will continue to fight for the unborn.

Mississippi Sends Top Students to Military Academies

It was my honor to introduce our Mississippi Military Academy appointees at the Jackson Rotary Club lunch on Monday. I’m extremely proud of these students and their commitment to service. Mississippi has a history of sending qualified candidates to represent our state and our nation at our United States Military Academies, and these exceptional young men will continue that legacy.

Welcoming Funding for Infrastructure Projects In the District and State

I’m thankful for the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability & Equity (RAISE) grant funding Mississippi has been awarded. This funding supports needed preparations for completing the North Hills Street project in Meridian, including planning for upgrades to meet current and projected traffic volumes. The improvements from this project will help Meridian share in the growth of the overall area and have better access to local businesses, colleges, and other facilities our communities use on a regular basis. The grant funding also represents a significant infrastructure investment in Laurel, replacing crumbling roads and updating them for modern use.

New UMMC School of Nursing

Training nurses to care for those in need is a central part of the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) mission. I am thankful to have helped break ground for the new School of Nursing building. We look forward to seeing this building serve as a new, modern training facility for new nurses in our state.
