Dear  john,

I hope that you and your family are well. Last weekend we celebrated Father’s Day – fathers play a crucial role in guiding families and in weaving the fabric of our nation. Being a father is one of the most fulfilling things in my life, and I’m immensely grateful for all the fantastic fathers across North Carolina and America. I am praying for your wisdom as you lead your families and hope that you were able to enjoy the weekend with friends and family.

John Durham Testifies

Earlier this week, Special Counsel John Durham testified publicly for the first time before the House Judiciary Committee.

His Special Counsel report left many questions – among them, why were numerous Russiagate co-conspirators not even interviewed during his probe? I questioned Durham about this, and his answers were revealing.

His final remarks were even more striking – and are exactly why I am fighting to uncover the weaponization of power within the Department of Justice and end the two-tiered justice system in our country.

TWEET: This answer from Durham reveals the full gravity of our situation and the inadequacy of our current tools to rectify it.

“I don’t know that things can go too much further with a view that law enforcement, particularly the FBI, the Department of Justice, runs a two-tiered system of Justice. The nation can’t stand under those circumstances.”

Bringing the Hammer Down on Government Censorship

This week, Chairman Mark Green and I took new steps in our investigation of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) partnerships with outside organizations and social media companies to suppress Americans’ speech.

The Department of Homeland Security and its subsidiaries, like CISA, have gone far outside the bounds of their mission and are abusing the power of the federal government to violate the First Amendment.

These bureaucrats claim that they don’t censor any speech, but all evidence uncovered so far is directly to the contrary. I’ll be utilizing all available levers, including the appropriations process and Congressional oversight powers, to expose and root out these abuses.

The Week in Weaponized Government

New documents from IRS whistleblowers show that Hunter Biden was given a sweetheart deal by the DOJ to protect his father, President Joe Biden. According to the whistleblower, Hunter Biden evaded taxes on millions of dollars of income – a crime that, if you or any other American committed, would result in your facing a far greater punishment. The documents also reveal that Hunter was with his father while shaking down a Chinese business associate for money and used his father’s position to threaten the official for payment.

One whistleblower told investigators that the younger Biden deducted many personal payments from his taxes, including payments to sex clubs and prostitutes, which is illegal.

It goes without saying that any other American, let alone any child of a Republican official, who did these things would be treated far more harshly than Hunter is.

TWEET: Biden was involved in his son's corrupt overseas business dealings.

While the Biden family’s corruption and criminality is abhorrent, the most disturbing revelations are those that showcase just how deep the rot in the Department of Justice goes and the level to which we are now operating under a two-tiered justice system.

I can guarantee that I will always utilize every tool at my disposal to put an end to these abuses. Our country depends on it.

Ending Endless Wars

I’m proud to be an original cosponsor of a Congressional resolution re-asserting that the Constitution supersedes any treaty agreements, and that sending troops into any armed conflict MUST first receive Congressional approval. No President can unilaterally bring America into an overseas conflict, even under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) agreement.

It is more important than ever that Congress reassert its Article I power as reckless Swamp policy leads to further escalation in Ukraine. We should not have boots on the ground in far-flung conflicts that do not benefit American interests and are not approved by the American people’s elected representatives.

Votes this week

  • H. Res. 521 – Censuring Adam Schiff (Passed) – This resolution censured Representative Adam Schiff for conduct misleading the American people, including proven lies about President Trump colluding with Russia. It also directs the House Committee on Ethics to investigate that conduct.
  • H.R. 277– Condemning use of school facilities to house illegal aliens (Passed)– This resolution condemns the use of elementary and secondary schools to shelter illegal aliens. The use of these facilities has been an issue most prominently in the state of New York.
  • H.R. 1606 – Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Act (Passed) – Codifies the Boots to Business Program, which provides entrepreneurship training to veterans.
  • H.R. 3672 – Naming the Veterans Affairs clinic in Indian River, Michigan as the “Pfc. Justin T. Paton Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic” (Passed) Names the Indian River facility after Pfc. Justin T. Paton, who was killed in 2007 while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
  • H.J. Res. 45 – Veto override of Biden’s student loan bailout (Failed) – This attempt to override President Biden’s veto failed. The underlying legislation would have nullified the rule issued by Biden’s Department of Education suspending federal student loan payments.
  • H. Res. 529 – Relating to impeachment of Joe Biden (Passed) – Refers a resolution calling for President Biden’s impeachment to the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Homeland Security.
  • H.R. 3564 – Middle Class Borrower Protection Act (Passed) – This would nullify the Biden administration’s Loan-Level Price Adjustment (LLPA) mortgage rule. Under this rule, mortgage rates would be raised on responsible homebuyers with good credit, forcing them to subsidize those with bad credit.

Sincerely,
