Friend,
I’m ignoring the absurd Biden
impeachment rumblings in the House. MAGA Republicans are totally
delusional. They'd rather make the House a circus than govern. No
surprise there.
But I do want to talk about
President Biden. I want to talk about the contrast we’re going to make
that’s going to elect him President again in 2024.
Here’s the biggest strength of the Biden
presidency. He gets the job
done. He knows where the levers are in the House and Senate. He
doesn’t brag. He does what he needs to do and he does it
well.
So when voters head to the ballot
box next November, they’re going to be supporting a President
who:
- Passed
three huge bills investing in infrastructure, reducing the price of
insulin for millions, and building chip factories in areas that
desperately need job investment.
- Negotiated our debt ceiling and the fate of our global economy
out of a hostage crisis with MAGA extremists.
- Held the
Democratic world together against Putin’s fascist
warmongering.
- Has the
economy growing - with record low unemployment and job
creation.
Really, that’s just the start of
his accomplishments. Tens of millions of Americans have seen tangible
improvements in their lives because of Biden. Any sane voter is
thankful to have a White House that isn’t teetering on the brink of
disaster.
And our President did it all quietly. But guess what?
That’s the point.
Because we’re going to take that
work and contrast it with the crazy legacy of Trump. Everyone
remembers what it was like between 2017 and 2021. It was a four-year
crisis. Even former conservatives couldn’t stand the man’s daily
temper tantrums and completely erratic leadership. He and MAGA
destroyed the idea that the GOP is conservative.
Since voters tossed him out of the
White House by a 7 million plus vote margin, Trump hasn’t exactly done
anything proving he’s any closer to sanity. The indictments keep
stacking up, his rants are increasingly out of step with reality. He’s
paranoid and turning on his closest associates (the ads we air in his
house play a big role in that).
Now, say by some miracle Trump’s
legal troubles catch up to him. Or somehow he loses his grasp on the
nomination. Ron DeSantis’ crazy really isn’t any
different.
Picking a fight with one of the
most beloved brands in America. Bullying marginalized groups. The
man’s nasty, he’s unlikeable, and he doesn’t campaign on a single
policy that appeals to the electorate that swings general
elections.
So, Trump or DeSantis (it’s gonna
be Trump). The contrast is still the same. They’re nominating the
crazy and we’re nominating a guy who actually knows how to do the
work.
I’ve been in Presidential campaigns for 40+ years now. I’ve
never seen a contrast so simple. A message that can be so clearly made
to the public.
Yet, I still see pundits carping
about Biden’s re-election chances. If those people make you nervous,
I’ve got advice for you. Don’t listen to them. They’re being paid to
gin up drama here.
If
the pro-democracy coalition turns out like it will, and The Lincoln
Project once again leads the messaging fight for those swing voters in
Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, this election will be a wrap.
Four more years of Biden. A death blow to MAGA and Trump. Let’s do
this.
