Inspiring Wyoming's
Next Generation

The Congressional Award program
is the highest honor for our nation's youth ages 14 to 23. It is
a non-competitive program that has encouraged young Americans to
unleash their potential by achieving personal goals focused on
volunteerism, character, development and fitness.

Started by Wyoming Senator
Malcolm Wallop in 1979 and championed for decades by my friend
Senator Mike Enzi and his wife Diana, the Congressional Award has
inspired countless young Americans, including thousands in
Wyoming, to better their community and themselves.

While this program has more than
50,000 young Americans enrolled and has impacted every corner of
our nation, its deep Wyoming roots made me feel especially
honored to lead the reintroduction of the Congressional Award Act
this week to extend the program for another five years.

To date, more than 8.1 million
hours of service have been contributed to communities across the
country as a part of the program. This year, Wyoming had 15
Congressional Award Gold Medal recipients, who I had the honor to
meet with this week.

Watching the next generation of
leaders form through this program has given me great assurance
that Wyoming and our country will be in good hands.

Happy Trails,

Senator Lummis' Week in Pictures

I had a great time touring the
Spire Natural Gas facility in Evanston to learn more about what I
can do in Washington to unleash American energy and lower gas
prices.

Boys State is truly one of the
great programs for young men in Wyoming and Team Lummis was lucky
enough to meet three of this year's participants.

Thank you to Caleb Greenlee from
Cheyenne, Hayden Paxton from Manderson and Aaron Bujans from
Sheridan for stopping by.

I was honored to receive the
Defender of Limited Government Award from the Institute for
Legislative Analysis, a leading conservative advocacy
organization. Its Limited Government Index found that my
conservative voting record makes me one of the top ten senators
defending the freedoms people in Wyoming value.

I spoke at the Housing Supply
Solutions Summit and discussed ways we can increase affordable
housing options in Wyoming, especially in rural areas, by
clearing barriers to new housing development and other burdensome
regulations.

My team and I were pleased to
welcome the Boswell Springs Wind Project to the Cowboy State. The
Albany County facility will generate 1,160 gigawatt-hours/year,
provide $119 million in tax revenue and create 200 good-paying
full-time jobs. Wyoming is open for business!

WORKING
IN WASHINGTON

Legislative Actions:

I joined Senator
Rand Paul (R-KY) in introducing a resolution to make it clear
that Article V of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
cannot override Congress' constitutional responsibilities to
declare war.

The sacred
and solemn duty to declare war is explicitly defined in the
Constitution as that of Congress and Congress alone. America must
honor our Article V commitment, but we cannot allow NATO to
supersede our nation's laws or we risk losing sight of the
principles and values that make this country so special.

I cosponsored the
bipartisan Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective
Care Technologies (CONNECT) for Health Act which would expand
coverage of telehealth services through Medicare, make permanent
COVID-19 telehealth flexibilities, improve health outcomes and
make it easier for patients to connect with their doctors.

This
legislation will make life easier for the people of Wyoming and
especially those living in rural communities by allowing rapid
access to high-quality health care from the comfort of your own
home.

Major Votes:

Passage of the
veto message in relation to S.J.Res.11, a Congressional Review
Act introduced by Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE) undoing President
Biden's new $8,304 Green New Deal tax on truckers.
Supported

This cruel
tax will hurt independent truckers in Wyoming and raise the cost
of all consumer goods.

WORKING
IN WYOMING

Media:
I joined Akiko Fujita
with Yahoo Finance Live to discuss the RECOUP Act which seeks to
claw back excessive compensation from failed bank executives, my
continued efforts to establish a federal regulatory framework for
crypto assets and much more. Click here to view the full
interview.
Working for Wyoming:
President Biden has
been hell bent on trampling all over the Constitution in order to
expand the federal government and undercut the freedoms of the
people of Wyoming.

The Biden
administration's latest assault on the Second Amendment targeted
stabilizing braces that were designed and manufactured to assist
disabled combat veterans in shooting larger pistols that were
otherwise too difficult for a gun owner with a disability to use.

I joined Senator John
Kennedy (R-LA) in voting to overturn this unconstitutional effort
this week because the Second Amendment does not exclude disabled
veterans. We cannot let the Biden administration create any
excuse to criminalize millions of law-abiding gun owners.
News Around Wyoming:

Legendary Wyoming
Cowboys basketball coach Jim Brandenburg dies at age 87
Casper Star-Tribune
Legendary basketball
coach Jim Brandenburg, the architect of some of the greatest
teams in Wyoming Cowboys history, has died. He was 87.

Brandenburg, who took
over a program in 1979 that had posted an 84-126 overall record,
including a dismal 29-93 (.312) conference mark over the previous
eight seasons, led the Cowboys to three Western Athletic
Conference regular-season championships and three NCAA Tournament
appearances during his nine seasons in Laramie.

WYOMING SHOUT OUT

The 2023 College National Finals
Rodeo finished up last weekend after an exciting couple of days
in Casper. While Wyoming teams may have come up short, GIllette
College freshman Haiden Thompson won all-around cowgirl.

The Yoder native overcame a tough
draw during the goat tying portion of the competition to stay in
the hunt. Thompson battled throughout the weekend before a strong
showing in the breakaway propelled her to all-around cowgirl in
her first ever College National Finals Rodeo.

Rodeo is an important part of our
culture in the Cowboy State and Haiden made all of us proud with
her well-earned victory in front of the home crowd!
