If you've ever made an online purchase — maybe for food delivery, clothing, a concert ticket, or a hotel reservation — you might have wondered afterward why the charge was just a little higher than advertised. You're not alone.

Millions of Americans have been hit with "junk fees" in everyday transactions. (Junk fees are what we call the additional – and often hidden – charges that a wide range of lenders and vendors apply.)

Earlier this year in his State of the Union address, President Biden highlighted these junk fees as a key area in which government can step up to help consumers. In the wake of his call to action, we're now seeing major companies like LiveNation and SeatGeek announce that they will reveal all components of ticket costs to would-be purchasers.

This is incredibly encouraging news, but Jennifer knows that we need to ensure that more companies follow suit — and ideally lower costs.
