Earlier this year, I officially announced that I’m running for re-election to the U.S. Senate! The outpouring of support has been so energizing, and I’m ready to hit the campaign trail all across Virginia in the weeks and months ahead.

I’ve been a public servant for a long time — having served as a missionary, a civil rights attorney, and at local, state, and federal levels for our great Commonwealth. And one thing I’ve learned along the way is that if I’m going to run for office, my first focus better be on building a true grassroots movement — because without people like you by my side, I know I can’t win.

I’m proud to have led efforts to pass some truly life-changing pieces of bipartisan legislation in the last few years — policies that lower the cost of medicines, bring manufacturing jobs back home, prevent gun violence, and protect marriage equality.

Because for Virginia — and the nation — to be strong, we need access to good jobs for all, education for all, health care for all, safety and security for all, and true equality for all.
