The Texas Historical Commission preserves and operates 36 state historic sites [ [link removed] ] across Texas. These unique places honor Texas history and inspire an understanding of what it means to be a Texan.

Judge Eddie E. Harrison Juneteenth Heritage Celebration [ [link removed] ]

"Celebrating the Legacy of the Black Cowboy"
Washington-on-the-Brazos, Washington
"This Saturday", June 24

Join Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site for the annual Judge Eddie E. Harrison Juneteenth Heritage Celebration. The event is family-friendly and free to enjoy! This year we are celebrating the legacy of Black cowboys. There will be food, vendors, live music performances, a genealogy workshop, and cowboy demonstrations. In the afternoon, visitors can play baseball and view exhibits from Mance Lipscomb, Johnnie Swearingen, and the Black Cowboy Museum.
