Dear John,

When someone arrives at our border seeking safety, “asylum seeker” is just one
part of their identity. They are parents, children and siblings, journalists,
architects and psychologists. They have dreams and aspirations.

That’s why HIAS is dedicated to providing life-changing support that takes into
account the unique humanity of everyone we serve. This starts with providing the
kind of legal assistance that makes a real difference in navigating the
immigration court system – so asylum seekers can go on to fulfill their dreams
after building new lives in safety.

We’re working in El Paso and San Diego to provide legal representation to asylum
seekers in and out of detention. And we’ve opened an office in Juarez, Mexico
and are expanding to Monterrey, Tijuana, and Mexicali to provide legal aid and
know-your-rights training to even more people struggling to find safety. Without
the dedicated generosity of people like you, this life-changing work wouldn’t be
possible.

We cannot help others without your help now, John. As we plan to
expand our life-changing efforts in 2020, will you please donate
$18 or more now to support refugees and asylum seekers as
they flee violence and persecution?

This kind of legal support is a key part of our mission: We set out to help
refugees build on their sense of self-reliance to carry them into a brighter,
safer future.

We plan to do even more of this work in 2020, helping more and more people in
cities at the southern border and across the United States. But while we’re
aiming to help more refugees and asylum seekers become self-sufficient, our work
depends on you . That’s why we’re counting on supporters like you to make a donation right now
to make sure HIAS can continue extending a helping hand to those in their
greatest moments of need:

work that makes it possible for those seeking safety and freedom to escape
danger and achieve a brighter future.
