Chairman of the Transport Select Committee

The elections for Chairs of Select Commitees brought yet more elections to Parliament. I threw my hat in to the ring and stood as Chair of the Transport Select Committee of which I have been a member of for 5 years. It is an honour to have been elected.

Our new ATM on Battle High Street
We've finally succeeded in bringing back a 24/7, 365 days a year, free-to-use cash machine on Battle High Street (it's outside the new Costa Coffee Shop).

Investment in local infrastructure

After the Prime Minister's statement on transport investment, I sought his assurance that the funding provided to local authorities for these projects will be ring-fenced.

East Sussex MPs working together

I meet East Sussex Conservative MPs every fortnight in Parliament to ensure that we work together as a team. The agenda for this week was hospital upgrades, road improvements and the pressures of building development.

Looking ahead at Transport

In my first speech as Chairman of the Transport Select Committee, I focused on buses, rail, aviation and innovations to clean up the transport carbon footprint.

Brexit Public Meeting

Thanks to all those who attended my Brexit Withdrawal Agreement explainer. There were thoughtful questions and no emotive argument about rights & wrongs. Hope we are moving forward and focusing on challenges positively.

Finding a solution for the A21

With this Government focused on infrastructure, the A21 Reference Group reconvened in Parliament to ensure we are in the mix for a long-term solution.

Cycling and Walking Showcase

I was pleased to deliver a speech at the Showcase for the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Cycling and Walking. A core focus was active travel and addressing many of the key policy challenges facing the UK.
