Reps. Troy E. Nehls and Randy Weber Call on the Biden Administration to Protect American Shrimpers Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in Washington Reps. Troy E. Nehls and Randy Weber Call on the Biden Administration to Protect American Shrimpers Texas Congressmen Call on Biden Administration to... Anti-dumping tariffs were renewed for Asian nations, but Ecuador's growing share of the shrimp industry has prompted concerns from Texas shrimpers. Read more thetexan.news This week, I sent a bipartisan letter with Congressman Randy Weber (R-TX-14) to the United States Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, and United States Trade Representative, Katherine Tai, citing concerns about recent influxes of imported shrimp into United States markets and urging them to take action to put American shrimpers and the American aquaculture industry first. The U.S. shrimp industry has a rich history in our Gulf Coast states, including Texas, and faces peril as foreign competitors are increasingly dumping shrimp into domestic markets. This has resulted in the inability of domestic shrimpers to stay in business and maintain competitiveness. The letter, signed by Congressmen Brian Babin (R-TX-36), Michael Cloud (R-TX-27), and Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX-34), highlights the struggles U.S. shrimpers are experiencing as they face some of the lowest market prices due to foreign shrimp being dumped into United States markets from countries such as Ecuador, India, Thailand, China, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The letter urges the Biden Administration to take action to mitigate the effects of foreign imported shrimp from foreign nations. Read more about my letter HERE. Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Adopts Rep. Troy E. Nehls' Amendment to Raise Mandatory Retirement Age for Pilots Don't Let Pilots Fly After Age 65, Flight Crew Unions... As the FAA reauthorization bill moves through Congress, airline labor unions have coalesced in opposition to a measure to raise the pilot retirement age to 67. Read more www.forbes.com This week, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held a markup on the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, a bipartisan 800-page bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the nation’s aviation safety and infrastructure programs for the next five years. During the markup, my legislation, the Let Experienced Pilots Fly Act, was included in the FAA Reauthorization as an amendment. This bill would allow commercial pilots to continue flying until they reach the age of 67 while adhering to the same rigorous health and safety standards. Simply put, this bill directly addresses the most glaring pilot shortage in living memory in the United States. Read more about my legislation HERE. Rep. Troy E. Nehls in the Washington Times: Navigating the Crisis of Unaccompanied Migrant Children Navigating the crisis of unaccompanied migrant children America's policy of allowing unaccompanied alien children, known as UACs, who arrive at our border to enter and remain here is inflicting grievous harm on the children themselves and on communities. Read more www.washingtontimes.com This week, I authored an op-ed with the president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), Dan Stein, for the Washington Times highlighting our nation’s policy of letting unaccompanied alien children (UACs) enter our border and allowing them to remain within the country. This policy is separating children from their parents, allowing children to be exploited, and putting burdens on communities across the country. Congress must override the ill-conceived Flores Settlement and enact legislation that requires UACs—and those pretending to be—be reunited with their families and not given a free pass into the United States. Rep. Troy E. Nehls Votes 'YES' to Protect Disabled Veterans The House of Representatives passed H.J.Res. 44, which strikes down the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) unconstitutional pistol brace rule to protect millions of disabled veterans and Americans. Through the ATF's rule, the Biden Administration is attempting to bypass Congress' legislative authority by using executive orders to turn law-abiding gun owners into criminals. I remain committed to defending and protecting your unalienable right to keep and bear arms. I will always fight for all Americans' Second Amendment liberty.
